How to Pin an Amazon Affiliate Link to Pinterest
This post may contain affiliate links. If you decide to make a purchase from one of the links below, I’ll receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. Thank you for your continued support!
We’ve all been there. We had what seemed to be a great way to add a little side cash. We spent hours googling the best way to do it. The how’s, when’s and why’s of it all. Yet when we finally decide this will be the moment to just dive in and go for it…you realize you can’t find a single post or video showing you exactly HOW to do it and it’s becoming overwhelming.
Well, be overwhelmed no more! Here’s your step-by-step guide to pinning Amazon affiliate links to Pinterest, ensuring the link includes your affiliate information so that you get credit for the sale!
I know it must seem obvious, but this wouldn’t be a true step by step guide if I didn’t mention signing up.
If you haven’t yet started your Pinterest page, you can do so here. I recommend you sign up as a business page since you will be making money from it.
If you have yet to become an Amazon affiliate, you can do so here. At some point in the signing up process, Amazon will ask you to list all websites and top level sites where you will be promoting your affiliate links. You’ll want to add your Pinterest url there.
Step 2: Choose something to promote.
Sign in to your Amazon affiliate account. Choose an item that you want to promote on Pinterest.
Step 3: Make text link.
Scroll to the top left of the page. There you will see SiteStripe with 3 options: text, image, text + image.
Click on text and click on full link.
Copy the link.
Step 4: Pin to Pinterest
Go back to the product you want to promote. On the right side of the screen, you will see options for sharing on social media. Click on the pinterest icon.
Pinterest will pop up and ask you which board you want to pin it to. Choose a board or create a new one.
Step 5: Add your Affiliate Link
Once your pin has been added to the board of your choice, click on it. Then click the edit button (the writing utensil icon in the bottom left hand corner of the pin shown below). Please note that the edit button could be in a different location depending on the device you are using to view it.
Here’s what your pin will look like in edit mode:
Delete the URL listed in the website section. Paste the URL you copied from the Amazon site in the website text box. Double check to be sure your affiliate ID is included in the newly pasted URL. Click done.
Congrats! You’ve successfully pinned an Amazon affiliate link to your Pinterest page!
Pro Tip: Be sure to update the description to keywords and an acknowledgement that this is, in fact, an affiliate pin. Please view Amazon’s rules on this as well as FTC rules and regulations.
Any questions, comments, requests for future posts? I’d love to hear from you!
